After taking 3 planes, I arrived to a town located at an altitude of 6.000 feets. Oxygen lacked, so I had to wait to acclimatize to continue my journey.
I have always loved road trips. There is something so enchanting when looking at the window and singing while I get to my destination.
This time it was a 5 hour trip. We packed our bags and got in the car. As we drove, we started to gradually leave behind the high mountains full of snow, the bumpy roads and the landscape started to change, becoming more flat with less vegetation …until it became desert.
The sunlight started to disappear and we were surrounded by dark clouds, the orange desert hosted only few trees and a grey mountain appeared at the background. I grabbed my cell phone and snapped just this picture from inside the car. It is the only image I have of that road trip. Although I have dozens of images and memories in my mind.
I realized that as humans, Nature also changes moods, regardless if we are present or not. Nature is sometimes happy, sometimes sad. Nature provides theatrical spectacles, where there is a stage and a performance. And this time Nature was dramatic and emotional.
P.S. I took this image on my way to New Mexico. Sorry if it is not the best quality, but I wanted to share my experience. Comments are welcomed.

Ciao Adriana,
Paola
Ciao Paola!
Yes, United states is so big that it offer all kinds of landscapes, deserts being one of the most interesting. If you ever have the opportunity, do visit New Mexico, specially a town called Santa Fe. It is very picturesque. :)
Thank you so much for your comments.

Andrea,
Grazie a te!.. For giving us (the beginner photographers) the opportunity to share. And specially for inspiring us in this Universal moment of sadness. To show us that no matter how dark things might appear, we can always disconnect our minds from that negativity and create. That in the lowest moments is the time to re-invent ourselves (and launch interesting projects like these: bonfire). You have no idea how therapeutic writing these stories have been for me!.
Un forte abbraccio
A
