I wanted to share with you this photo I took many years ago, with a disposable camera, when no fancy digital cameras or cell phones existed. I scanned the physical photo to be able to share it.
This picture means a lot to me as it was taken in a wonderful vacation in 1999. It was during the day of new years eve, but a special one, since it was the arrival of the New Millenia. Everyone was so excited, and full of dreams for 2000 and the following years.
My wish that night was to someday be able to go back there. It was my dream, and dreams do come true. After so many years, I unexpectedly went back there last year in 2019 for spring brake. 20 years later. So much had changed in that town. But the peak was there intact, majestic, beautiful and powerful.
The Matterhorn is my favorite peak in the world. I will never get tired of taking photographs of it. And it was that peak that somehow introduced me to photography without knowing it. I guess I was always attracted to landscapes. ;)
Where were you in the arrival of the new millennia? Have your dreams come true?
Any comments on the photo are welcomed.
